Benefits of massage in pregnancy:

Every pregnancy is completely different; some may suffer with nausea, sickness, heartburn or all three! Some may suffer with anxiety, cramps or a really bad back etc - but this is where I can help...Beau-Therapy pregnancy massage is specifically designed for the needs of pregnant women and tailored to each pregnancy, so that all our expecting mothers can relax, unwind and enjoy a luxurious massage as part of their prenatal care regime #SelfCareIsTheBestCare

Pregnancy massage benefits:

• Tranquil relaxation, encouraging the release of 'feel good' hormone Oxytocin; enhancing the reduction of stress hormones in your body

• Relax and loosen your muscles from cramps and spasms, particularly in the neck, lower back, hips and legs

• Increase blood flow and keep your lymphatic system working at peak efficiency, flushing out toxins from your body - which can reduce swelling e.g. swollen feet and ankles

• Reduce stress on weight-bearing joints e.g. ankles, feet, hips, lower back

• Improve outcome of labour and ease labour pain

• Provides support for mum-to-be with physical and emotional strains of mothering

"I had an amazing morning the other day, lovely lady, lovely space and for the first time throughout my pregnancy I felt not only calm and relaxed from the amazing massage but like there was a safe space where another woman was happy to just listen. I would highly recommend and will be visiting again whether it’s when I’m still pregnant or after!! Thank you so much!! P.s my little goodie bag was a beautiful touch to your services." – Heidi

Is massage safe in pregnancy?

It is recommended that women wait until their second trimester for any type of massage, which is why we only offer our services from 14 weeks.

From the second trimester, as long as you have a low-risk pregnancy and the consent from your midwife or healthcare professional, massage is safe and can continue right up until you give birth.

Here’s what you can expect to keep you safe during a Beau-Therapy massage:

  • Orchid Massage Academy’s pregnancy massage certification

  • Insured to provide pregnancy massage treatments

  • Clear DBS certification

  • Thorough online client consultation prior to your appointment

  • Online Prompt to obtain your Midwife or Healthcare Professional’s consent

  • Pregnancy massage contra-indication disclaimer list prior to treatment

  • Massage bed adjusted to upright position at an incline to help support your back, hips and most importantly your precious bump

  • Side lying position – you will never be asked to lay face down

  • Pregnancy (V) pillow placed around your tummy area and between your legs to help support your bump

  • Extra pillows to keep feet, ankles and legs elevated to aid circulation and ease any swelling during your treatment

Can a pregnancy massage induce labour?

No, pregnancy massage will not bring on or induce labour – labour will not begin until mother and baby are both ready.

Massage is considered safe and is encouraged right up until your due date, ensuring you still receive all of the benefits right up until giving birth – pregnancy massage can really help get you feeling comfortable and prepared for labour.

As long as your healthcare professionals are aware and haven’t advised against pregnancy massage due to any health or medical concerns, you are good to go!

"My pregnancy massage with Gemma was just what I needed. She came to my home all prepared and made me feel extremely comfortable. After discussing my pregnancy Gemma gave me the most relaxing massage which I didn’t want to end! I would highly recommend" – Charlotte
